As the weather gets warmer, it’s only a matter of time before you set off on your first spring RV camping trip of the season. You’ve probably got plenty of ideas of where you’re headed next, but before you can hit the road, it’s important to ensure that your camper is ready for the ride. We all know that maintenance requires some work, but it’s worth it to know your vehicle is in good shape.
Test your Appliances and Electronics
Making sure that your RV’s appliances are running properly can prevent you from having a stressful vacation. You’ll probably need to hook up to a power source, but you’ll want to go through and inspect everything from all the cooking appliances to the air conditioner and heater to even the lights.
Small issues like a burnt-out lightbulb are easy to fix, but if you hear strange noises or if something is working normally, it might take longer to fix and you’ll probably need a professional.
While you are at it, you may also want to check certain portable devices you may have stored in your camper, like flashlights and radios.
Inspect the Tires
Your RV’s tires will help keep you safe on the road. Make sure they’re inflated to the proper pressure level. Check the tread and sidewalls for any signs of damage.
Check the Fluid Levels
Check your brake fluids, windshield fluids, and antifreeze/coolant fluids. Top off anything that is low. If your RV has a generator, check the generator’s oil and filters as well.
